\u03a0\u03b5\u03c1\u03b9\u03b3\u03c1\u03b1\u03c6\u03ae \u03c4\u03bf\u03c5 \u03bf\u03c1\u03b3\u03b1\u03bd\u03b9\u03c3\u03bc\u03bf\u03cd: <\/b>The Istituto Alberghiero di Assisi (Umbria, Italy) has been an educational reality in the area since 1970. The school has always been committed to training its students towards the many professions of tourist hospitality, accommodation, restaurant and commercial services. The school, is deeply rooted in the territory and boosts about the contribution it has made to the development of tourism in Umbria.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u03a0\u03b5\u03c1\u03b9\u03b3\u03c1\u03b1\u03c6\u03ae \u03c4\u03bf\u03c5 \u03c4\u03b9 \u03ba\u03ac\u03bd\u03bf\u03c5\u03bd \u03c3\u03b5 \u03cc,\u03c4\u03b9 \u03b1\u03c6\u03bf\u03c1\u03ac \u03c4\u03b7\u03bd \u03b1\u03c3\u03c4\u03b9\u03ba\u03ae \u03ba\u03b7\u03c0\u03bf\u03c5\u03c1\u03b9\u03ba\u03ae: <\/b>The Orto Giardino of the Istituto Alberghiero di Assisi is located within a courtyard inside the school’s main office. This 250-square-meter space, owned by the province of Perugia, has been neglected in maintenance over the years, which has contributed to the spontaneous growth of numerous weeds but also native grasses such as mallow, wild fennel, wild buttercups, and elderberry plants. Since 2015, the installation of a vegetable garden has helped give this space a new function, that of neatly accommodating plant species suitable for food consumption and the study of botanical varieties.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The project was articulated from the outset with a functional and aesthetic organization reminiscent of the ancient monastic gardens of medieval and Renaissance styles. The use of this space is mostly related to the school’s internal educational activities and also to the numerous food education activities promoted by the Institute in the area and aimed at the school community but not only.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The management and responsibility for the maintenance of the garden is entrusted to the school community as a whole, but the organization of the spaces, their care and maintenance during the school year is designed especially with the support of teachers in collaboration with pupils. Irrigation, on the other hand, is entrusted to an efficient automated drip system. During the activity period of the kitchen and hall workshops, the harvesting of vegetables and herbs is entrusted to the pupils and teachers themselves. During the summer period, instead, a group of teachers take turns to ensure maintenance. A small vegetable market is also organized in the summer period inside the school and directed to the school staff in order to raise funds for the maintenance of the space.<\/span><\/p>\n
