Description of this organization: Oraiokastro is a municipality in the Thessaloniki regional unit, Greece and a suburb of Thessaloniki. The municipality Oraiokastro was formed at the 2011 local government reform by the merger of the following 3 former municipalities, that became municipal units. The municipality Oraiokastro has an area of 217.855 km2 and the municipal unit Oraiokastro has an area of 21.855 km2
Description of what they do in regards to urban gardening: The Municipal Public Benefit Enterprise of Oreokastro started the Municipal Vegetable Garden in March 2016. It is a vegetable garden in an open area in Oreokastro, cultivated jointly by local residents, with the aim of producing fresh vegetables for their own use or distribution to friends, relatives and those in need. Each participating gardener cultivates a small garden plot of 50 square meters.
